We use countless web and data technologies every day. Our research identifies new attacks on these and make the systems robust and secure.
In the research group ROSES (Robust, Secure and Privacy-Preserving Smart Systems), Prof Dr Christian Mainka and his team are dedicated to the security of digital systems that form the foundation of our connected world.
Our focus is on web security, in particular browsers and web protocols such as single sign-on and the protection of REST APIs. In the area of data security, we analyze the security of document formats such as PDF, ODF and OOXML as well as structured data formats such as JSON and XML. The focus here is on the systematic identification of vulnerabilities, the development and analysis of attack scenarios and the evaluation and further development of security mechanisms such as digital signatures and encryption.
